How many times have you seen the gray win in the mud? I hate that angle because I never thought it was based in anything more than superstition, but I've also seen it happen again and again over the years. I want someone (not me, of course, but someone) to do real research on the topic.
Our Pick Four single, Honest Man, ranged up to the leaders seemingly on his own in the final turn and I was feeling pretty good but then Saez went to the whip pretty early and the horse just didn't have anything left to get to the front. Could he have used up too much with the :58 4/5 work five days ago, or did he not handle the track? I am inclined to not dwell on that since there are two Grade II stakes remaining and I have to forge ahead, not look back.
Congrats to Macho Again, though, and Dallas Stewart and West Point.
