Accomplished Girl Takes the Prize with Perfect Trip Pan Zareta
New Orleans, La (Nov. 30, 2024) – Working out a perfect trip, Gentry Farms’ Accomplished Girl scored a dominant victory in the $100,000 Pan Zareta Stakes on Saturday at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. Clear from the older 11 fillies and mares throughout the stretch, the 4-year-old piloted by Jareth Loveberry won by 1 1/2 lengths over a hard charging Cupids Crush. Accomplished Girl completed the 5 1/2 furlongs over the Stall-Wilson turf course rated “firm” in 1:04.51.
Trained by Steve Asmussen, the daughter of Street Boss added a second stakes title to go along with the Grade 2 Presque Isle Downs Masters.
Bosserati jumped out to the lead and clocked in a moderate opening fraction of :22.32, while Accomplished Girl positioned to her inside and in close proximity. Hugging the rail through the turn, Accomplished Girl shot forward as soon as daylight opened up out of the far turn and spurted away from the field. Cupids Crush came from last with a late kick down the center of the track for second, and Hollywood Walk rallied up the rail for third.
“She was really comfortable,” Loveberry said. “She sat well down the backside. When (Bosserati) was spread in the turn, I thought I’ll take my chance while I can. It’s open, I don’t have to go wide. The trip made everything work today.”
Along with the winning ride aboard Oeuvre in the 2022 edition, Loveberry now boasts two Pan Zareta titles.
At 9-1, Accomplished Girl paid $20.00, $7.40, and $9.20.
In 16 career starts, Accomplished Girl has now won 5 with 3 placings, totaling $550,296 in lifetime earnings.
Fair Grounds will be dark on Sunday but resumes live racing with the normal Thursday through Sunday schedule, keeping to the regular 12:45 p.m CT first post.
